Ben and had planned on taking the kids on a mini vacation the minute we got back from Cabo. We heard soo much about Santa Cruz but had never been. We booked our first night in Santa Cruz and spent the day on the beach. It was glorious!! We stopped at a local burger joint first and then parked in our beach chairs and towels, burried each other, swam and built sand castles! The kids were in heaven. It was also Ben’s actual birthday so he was thrilled to be by the ocean!
Ben is the ultimate trip planner, yelp reviewer and adventurer! He planned our next day out to the tee which included a full day at the Monterey Aquarium! I didn’t mention this earlier but the temps down by the ocean were frigid and we were not prepared! The kids were complaining from the time they woke up! Our first stop was sweatshirts for all, followed by warm hot cocoa and coffees for Ben and I!
The Aquarium is nice because you get a day pass and can pop in and out throughout the day. We had lunch at this yummy Italian spot over looking the water.
That night we stayed in Pacific Grove and this by FAR was the highlight of our trip. Yummy food, beautiful beaches and scenery, pebble beach, HUGE parks, and the list goes on!
We had the BEST time! Our trip was literally Thursday to Saturday but it was perfect!! We cannot wait for next year. We hope to make this a yearly tradition!
