We can & We will

October 22, 2015 By Ruthie Ridley 20 Comments

Meet fellow blogger, aspirer and dreamer, Onyi. I had the privelage of meeting Onyi over IG and we hit it off right away! It helped that we had a ton in common as well. One thing I love about Onyi is her creativity. Every single one of her shoots are unique, inspiring and leaving you wanting more. She has mastered the art of editing and taking her own photos and has this impeccable sense of style. Read on below to learn more about her blogging journey through our interview.

1) When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging in December 2014 without having a clear angle. I have always loved fashion but didn’t just want to blog about fashion alone. It wasn’t until I saw the show Fashion Bloggers on E! that I decided to pursue it. The bloggers on the show where not just bloggers but photographers and the best part was they photographed their work themselves. That was the turning point for me. I started spending more time with my camera and improving my photography skills and I enjoyed every bit of it. I now share my photos on my blog together with my story which usually connotes positivity.
2) How do you find inspiration for your blog posts?
I follow bloggers I absolutely love to find inspiration. I also like to look at the latest trends to see how I can make it into something that’s unique to my style. And in times when I don’t feel so inspired, I turn to Les Brown on youtube. He’s a motivational speaker who does a great job of making me challenge myself.
3) Which three successful bloggers are an inspiration to you and why?
My absolute favourite is Margaret Zhang. She’s a photography genius who makes pictures come alive. Her unique sense of style is nothing short of refreshing. She has managed to balance being a law student, stylist, writer photographer and brand ambassador look all so easy. She makes me believe anything is possible.
I also love Zanita Whittington. She’s also a photographer and writer. I love the way she shares her work with a personal touch. She has a few photography courses which help build my knowledge on the subject matter.
I am still in search of my third favourite blogger. Needless to say, I shall keep a wandering eye out for them.

4) What is your favorite line of clothing?
I have no favourite line of clothing. If it looks good on me then I’ll have it, that is if I can afford it, lol.

5) Where do you see your blog in five years?
I see my blog showcasing my editorial work. I have a lot of work to put in and I’m prepared to work hard to get there one photo at a time.
6) What tips would you give new fashion bloggers about growing their engagement and following on IG?
My advice would be to focus on the quality of your work and creativity. Don’t worry about having a huge following and let your work speak for itself. Your work won’t appeal to everyone and that’s fine. Difference is what makes the world go round. People who are interested in your work will follow you and that’s the kind of engagement you need. People who are there to learn and share with you.

7) Tell us how you styled this hot ASOS dress!

As they say in Game of Thrones “winter is coming” and so I wrapped up in this long Missguided coat and Zara ankle boots accessorising with ASOS belt.

The the next time I just read a blog, I really hope that this doesnt disappoint me approximately brussels. Get real, Yes, it was my option to read, but I really thought youd have some thing intriguing to say. All I hear is usually a couple of whining about something that you could fix when you werent too busy searching for attention.

Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research on this. We got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I’m very glad to see such great information being shared freely out there.

certainly like your website however you need to
test the spelling on quite a few of your posts.

Many of them are rife with spelling problems and
I to find it very troublesome to tell the reality then again I’ll surely come again again.

He was totally right. This post actually made
my day. You can not imagine just how much time I had spent for this information! Thanks!

Just stopping your scroll this evening to say GOD Just stopping your scroll this evening to say GOD IS GREAT. There are seasons where God takes years and decades to answer prayers (and I’m still waiting for some of those) and then there’s the moments where God answers your prayers hours or a day later. He’s amazing in the suddenly and he’s amazing in the waiting. Thankful for the journey✨Thankful for his faithfulness - thankful that even as I wait - He is still good😌
