This past weekend we decided to take Ben’s mum up to Lake Tahoe! She is from England and we wanted to show her around Northern California a bit! We rented a cabin in Incline Village that was in the cutest little neighborhood. Everyone that lives there was so sweet and very patient with our wild Charlie! This was his first family vacation ever, by the way! To be completely honest he did amazing!!Before we got to Lake Tahoe a few of us had to some Fall cravings to fulfill! Ben’s cousin and her husband were down from Redding as well. It was one big party!! We stopped at Apple Hill for fresh donuts and caramel covered apples!!FYI the donuts are made fresh at Rainbow Farm. The farm we went to for the caramel apples was High Hill and omg, delicious!!! How cute is this little cabin?! We had a fire with games, hot cocoa and movies at night. It was truly relaxing and the biggest blessing!
The plan for Saturday was the big hike! We woke up that morning with Savannah having a pretty bad stomach bug. Never the plan when you’re away but you do the best you can! Savannah and I stayed back while the others did a pretty decent hike (4 miles total) at Eagle Lake. This was the kids first hike ever. It was two miles in and lots of rock and hills. Ben said that Ava and Judah did amazing! Charlie of course was in heaven! They packed lunches as well and took some time enjoying the view! I mean, look at this!!
Savannah actually recovered quite quickly! That evening we went out to dinner as a family, had lots of laughs and yummy food. Sunday morning we promised Savannah we would do another hike since she missed out. This was to an overlook. The hike was steep and fairly difficult. I would say it was about 1 mile to the top. This is the crystal lake over look. Absolutely beautiful and I will be honest and say that these pictures don’t do it any justice!!!
That’s our trip in a nutshell! We love Lake Tahoe and mum loved it as well! We are going to try and come back up in February for Judah’s birthday. Happy new week to everyone and thank you as always for stopping by the blog.
Ps. The bag we took on our hike was from Just Porter! Absolute life saver. We packed all of our food and little goodies in there. It was the perfect size. This particular bag is a Travel Ruck Sack. Aside from being an incredibly practical bag Just Porter is a bag with a cause!! With every bag sold, a bag is filled with supplies for a child in need. YES Please to that!! You can check out more of these awesome bags here.
