Where To Stay:
We stayed at La Jolla Cove Hotels and Suites which is centrally located and close proximity of Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and La Jolla Shores. You can walk out of the hotel, cross the street and be on the beach! We spent so much time walking around and on the beach because it was so close!!
The color of the hotel is the most gorgeous coral pink! It gives you the happy feels! You almost feel like you are in another country! Directly on the property there is a health club, an outdoor swimming pool, and a spa tub. Another amazing amenity of the hotel is the roof top complimentary breakfast served every morning with the most dreamy view! You never have to leave the property before 11 am!
Not only is the beach walking distance, but so is one of the most famous and controversial La Jolla attractions- the resident seals and sea lions. Unless the weather is prohibitive, they are almost always at the shoreline from the the sea caves to the Children’s Pool! On our bike tour described below we learned all about the seals and sea lions! They are incredible animals!
We absolutely loved our stay at La Jolla Cove and Suites! The location could not have been more perfect. We walked to breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day! We rarely had to get in our car which was very convenient when it came to parking! With affordability and perfect location, you can’t go wrong!! When we bring the kids back this is where we will stay!!

Where To Eat:
We had a few favorite spots! All, walking distance from our hotel! Our first breakfast spot was Duke’s. Duke’s is a Hawaiian restaurant! Duke was the main guy from Hawaii to bring surfing to the states! I loved the history of the restaurant but the food was also very good, as was their service! There is an option for outdoor seating that over looks the water! It is beautiful!
Brockton Villa: they are famous for their French toast! The do brunch, lunch and dinner and it is RIGHT on the water! We ate here the day before we left and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend you popping in here for a meal if you can!
ur first night we ate at George’s! Let me tell you, I was FLOORED. The food was out of this WORLD. I could have easily eaten everything off the menu. Not to mention, Ben and I were treated like royalty! The knowledge the servers had of the food and all of the drinks was mind blowing. Ben and I kept saying, I think in order for you to work here you have to go to culinary school! I had the tenderloin, Ben ordered the lobster and we shared. Prior to that we had bread that came with three different types of butter to sample as well as beef tartar. To end our experience we had their donuts that were hot, lightly sugar coated and fluffy! YUM YUM! I highly recommend this place of dinner!! It is an experience!
Nine Ten: Oh man, another 10/10 restaurant! We walked in and again felt like royalty. The service was impeccable and the food was just out of this world. Of course we got a variety because EVERYTHING looked SO good. We were able to walk to this restaurant from our hotel as well which is always nice!! Nine Ten does breakfast, lunch, Sunday brunch and dinner!

What To Do:
Go on a bike tour of La Jolla: This was amazing! We booked our tours through Fly Rides in San Diego. The first thing I loved was how easy it was to book online! We were able to sign our waivers online as well before we got there. When we arrived we were given bikes and shown how to use them. I was excited to learn that the bikes were electric and although we were pedaling at any moment we could press a button and get a little or no help if needed!! For 13 miles, I needed all the help I could get!! The tour we did is described on the site as follows: “Our Cali Dreaming tour was designed for those seeking a chilled out ride (no big hills like the SoCal Riviera tour) showcasing coastal La Jolla & Pacific Beach at it’s best. California sea lions, harbor seals, famous surf beaches, gorgeous real estate, Crystal Pier & pleasant bike paths make this ride perfect for those looking to get out explore San Diego’s most gorgeous coastline!” Simply beautiful! I loved our tour guide and the scenery was STUNNING!
Get A Massage: Ben booked our couples massage at La Vie Spa in La Jolla. We got a 60 min massage and it was by far the best massage we have ever had, no exaggeration. The place was clean, the staff was sweet, spoke really good English and they were constantly checking with Ben and I on pressure etc. They used hot stones a lot which I loved as well! The price was reasonable as well! I want to go back here tomorrow!
San Diego Zoo: Although the San Diego Zoo is not in La Jolla, it is only a 20 min drive away. Seeing as it has been voted #1 Zoo in the world, I believe it is 100 % worth the trip!! The Zoo is over 100 acres. They have over 3500 rare and endangered animals and more than 700,000 exotic plants!! Talk about an out of this world experience!! I cannot wait to take the kids to the Zoo! Perfect for families.
What To Drive:
We had the privelage of riding around in a Toyota Camry Hybrid SE! Wow! What a fun beautiful ride!! Toyota Corolla was my very first car when I got my license at 16, so I am a long time Toyota fan!! We LOVED this car during our stay in La Jolla! It was sporty, the color was bright and beautiful and the ride was as smooth as can be!! Ben explained to me that with a hybrid vehicle only uses gas once it hits a certain MPH. Huge energy and money saver! I suggest getting a vehicle while in La Jolla, simply for touring the area and taking in the gorgeous views! See more beautiful Toyota selections here.

Who To Fly:
We booked our flights with Alaska Air from Sacramento International Airport. They have over 90 non-stop flights within CA so going to La Jolla was a breeze! The ease of travel through the app is amazing. I love that you’re able to pre-select your seat ahead of time for free and upgrade your seat starting at 15.00. The app notified us to check in the night before and also gave us the option to upgrade to first class. We absolutely took advantage of that opportunity! Our first class experience was amazing and so was business class! Did you know that you can earn miles with Alaska Air when you fly for any business?! This allows you to save points for a dreamy vacation of your choice to any other of their 900+ worldwide destinations they offer! Alaska Air has converged with Virgin America and partners with so many other global airlines. They are such a hospitable airline that is stress free! I can’t wait to fly with them again! Thank you as always for stopping by the blog! I hope this guide was useful and helpful! Have the most amazing rest of your week!!
