We made it to the resort!! So happy to be here! It’s been quite an experience in the best way. I think we needed to escape the chaos of California and go to another space that felt “normal”. The kids are having a blast and there are activities every hour! This is just what we needed!
To answer a few questions: Jamaica’s numbers related to the virus have been excellent. Because their bread and butter comes from tourism, they have worked really hard to keep the numbers low so they could open back up for work. When they were told to stay home, they stayed home and for an extended period of time. I believe the deaths are around 10 total.
In order to leave the US and enter Jamaica, each person from our party had to complete a travel authorization form and complete a health screen at every check point. To give a bit of perspective of where we are staying, there are families here quarantining for 14 days in order to return to their countries for various reasons. I’m thankful for the extent this resort has taken to keep every area fully sanitized around the clock and safe. All the staff are in masks and following every precaution necessary for their guests. TBH we are better off here than in CA.
As far as the amount of guests – my guess is probably not great, but we are around 10-15 people at a time. That includes the pool, dinner and social activities in the evening. It’s a larger resort so I’m sure people are elsewhere!
Today Ben woke up burnt to a crisp! This literally happens every single vacation!! This Jamaican sun hit him hard! We had booked a spa treatment and massage for today. The kids had their first experience in the child care which they loved, too. The rest of the day was spent in the sand and at the pool for games! What I love about this resort is that every single day they have different activities that we can participate in. There is almost always a show at night and tonight was a Michael Jackson show which was phenomenal!
Today was a lot of fun! If you’ve been following me for a while then you know I don’t love being in the ocean! I’ve had some interesting experiences in the past and I’m always scared! Because my kids are getting older and they want to do things with me, I’m pushing myself! We all got in the water and sailed, we did some kayaking and stand up paddle boarding which was so much fun! I’m glad I did it all!
This has been an absolute trip of a lifetime! We are still pinching ourselves that we were able to have such an incredible experience as a family. From the food to the people and the beach front views it was unforgettable! I am looking forward to coming back to Jamaica when we can visit my family and see more of the country! It’s so important to Benjamin and I that the our kids are cultured and aware of their history!
