Hot Cocoa Bar

December 13, 2020 By Ruthie Ridley 16 Comments

Ruthie Ridley Blog Hot Cocoa Bar Ruthie Ridley Blog Hot Cocoa Bar Ruthie Ridley Blog Hot Cocoa Bar Ruthie Ridley Blog Hot Cocoa Bar Ruthie Ridley Blog Hot Cocoa Bar

This year, we decided to up our Christmas movie night game by adding this amazing hot cocoa bar!! I’ve really been trying to soak in the moments at home with my family, so I thought, how much fun would it be to go all out and do a “create your own” hot cocoa night.

With how low maintenance it is, it really is such an amazing way to treat any guests or family you’ll be having over this Christmas without having to do too much. Once it’s all set up, you can just sit back and watch as your family enjoys their own personalized hot cocoa, while drinking your own cup of course!!

To set up, all you’ll need is:

  1. Christmas decor, such as a table runner, trees, etc.
  2. Two wooden planks to make the stand
  3. Glass canisters
  4. Wooden scoopers
  5. A chalkboard sign and individual labels
  6. A chalkboard marker
  7. Your favorite Christmas mugs

For decorating the bar, all I did was lay down a few table runners, used the wooden planks as shelves by simply placing them on top of different leveled drinking glasses, set up the necessary number of canisters, and made the labels with the chalkboard signs and marker. I then made the sign and sprinkled in a few extra pieces of decor from around the house, such as the plaid trees and popcorn garland.

Once the bar is all set up and ready, you can start making your hot cocoa. I used Swiss Miss with a little bit of Hershey’s Cocoa mix and just mixed those with some milk in a crockpot to heat it up. Next comes the best part: TOPPINGS!! While the hot cocoa is warming up, you then take all your toppings and simply put each in their own individual canister.

For our hot cocoa bar, I decided to go with:

  1. Smash Mallow Cookie Dough Marshmallows
  2. Mini Marshmallows
  3. Hershey’s Syrup
  4. Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips
  5. Ghirardelli Caramel Sauce
  6. Lindt Milk Chocolate Truffles
  7. Ghirardelli Classic White Chocolate Chips
  8. Nestle Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  9. Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark
  10. Christmas M&Ms

All you have to do from there is grab your favorite Christmas mug, add your favorite toppings, and then just sit back and enjoy the evening with your family and your very own custom hot cocoa.

I truly enjoyed piecing together this hot cocoa bar and my family definitely enjoyed devouring all the goodies!! It made our Christmas movies night feel like a full-on Christmas party, but just for the five of us.

If you’d like to try this out for your family this Christmas season, I made sure to link some items that I found to help you set it up. Simply click any image below to shop!!

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the page layout of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect
with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or
two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MIRACLES YOU HAVE EVER WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MIRACLES YOU HAVE EVER WITNESSED GOD DO IN YOUR LIFE?!✨🫶🏾🕊️❤️‍🔥🙌🏾🙏🏾🤍

I’ll go first!! Earlier this week I was just thinking about how faithful God has been to me over the years! I think we all go through different highs and lows, but it’s so good to stop and look back and remember what God has done!

Back in 2008 when Ben and I just got married, the market had crashed. I had purchased a home on my own in CT- We lost the house and our cars were repossessed - I honestly felt like we would never recover from that!!! Not to mention, I felt so much failure and shame attached to that season!

Fast-forward to 2019, we begin working with our dear friend @cody.d.williams on purchasing our very first home together and he told us all the work that needed to be done with our credit, etc. we took a year and did everything we could to get things right! Not only were we able to purchase our first home together in 2019, but everything from the past was no longer a factor & two years later we were able to purchase an even more magnificent property that we now call home 🏡

Why was this a miracle for me? I think because I thought we would always be behind & nothing would ever change. We rented for 7+ years before we were able to purchase a home as a married couple and that started to discourage me!

Just a reminder that little miracles happen everyday and that your worst is never the worst. God can turn your situation around in a moment!!! The BEST is yet to COME!!! Keep believing ⭐️

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of spending Earlier this week, I had the privilege of spending some quality time with other incredible creators at a retreat with @parkermanagement 🤍 It really felt like a retreat for my soul ✨Napa is also reallly good at forcing you to slow down and take in the gorgeous views 😌

Spending time with these wonderful humans this week reminded me that I still belong here, even though I might not look like everyone else (or feel like I fit in) that’s the beauty of it all right?

I think after doing something for a very long time and in this space specifically, it’s easy to feel imposter syndrome, self doubt and the inability to “keep up”. Although an app or an industry has changed over time it’s so important to stay true to yourself.

So grateful for this time away & I’m leaving with my cup overflowing! God is always on time with these types of things. Just when we need another boost or some encouragement, He sends all the right people your away! He is just good like that 🤩
