Fall Picnic With Cameron Hughes

November 16, 2017 By Ruthie Ridley 51 Comments

Thank you Cameron Hughes for sponsoring this post. Capture the celebratory spirit of the holidays, and toast to the season with Cameron Hughes wine!

Fall Picnic With Cameron Hughes

Ben and I are so fortunate to live right by wine country where some of the most amazing wines are made.  We love good blends and have developed such an appreciation for wine and how it is made ever since moving here to CA and experiencing the process.  We were recently introduced to Cameron Hughes wine and instantly became super fans! We received a combination of 3 varietals and love all that they have to offer but have become especially drawn to their Cabernet Sauvignon.  This has a mix of  blackberry and black cherry fruit, espresso bean riding waves of powerful, mocha and chocolate. You can expect a full-bodied, richly textured blend, with perfectly grained tannins.  If you like red, I think you will love the Cameron Hughes Cab Sauv.

The other varietal we had the privilege of trying was their Pinot Noir! The Pinot is much lighter than the Cabernet Sauvignon. This Pinot is described as having a mix of rose petal and earthy black cherry, plum and brown baking spice notes with hints of pepper.  So many beautiful flavors in this blend and has such a smooth finish! My guests will love this one at Thanksgiving this year!  Did I mention that this bottle is only 15.00!

Lastly, we received the Chardonnay varietal.  Chardonnay is always a win in my book!! This one is no exception! The Cameron Hughes 576 Chardonnay is a combination of  honeysuckle, pear, and apple gains, papaya and orange. Seriously DELICIOUS! Definitely a robust wine! I cannot wait to share this one with family around the holiday’s this year.  Although I had mentioned that the Cab was my favorite, I truly love all 3 varietals! Perfectly done and the price is amazing.  This bottle is only 14.00!

On to our Fall Picnic! Ben and I have been in an extremely busy season in our lives.  For the past few months we have had at home date nights because we are gone so much and we love the simplicity of hanging out at home.  Not to mention, we hate being away from the kids in the evenings if we can help it.  At the same time we know the importance of setting aside time for ourselves and actually going out and doing something! When I told Ben we are doing an outdoor picnic for a little date he thought I was crazy but ended up loving the idea.  Sipping wine, eating yummy treats and just chatting out in the middle of no where was so peaceful and refreshing! I know that not everyone lives in 65 degree weather right now, but if you can get away for a simple outdoor date, I think it’s worth it.   Something about the Fall crisp air and one on one time is really good for the soul.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of CLEVER and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MIRACLES YOU HAVE EVER WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MIRACLES YOU HAVE EVER WITNESSED GOD DO IN YOUR LIFE?!✨🫶🏾🕊️❤️‍🔥🙌🏾🙏🏾🤍

I’ll go first!! Earlier this week I was just thinking about how faithful God has been to me over the years! I think we all go through different highs and lows, but it’s so good to stop and look back and remember what God has done!

Back in 2008 when Ben and I just got married, the market had crashed. I had purchased a home on my own in CT- We lost the house and our cars were repossessed - I honestly felt like we would never recover from that!!! Not to mention, I felt so much failure and shame attached to that season!

Fast-forward to 2019, we begin working with our dear friend @cody.d.williams on purchasing our very first home together and he told us all the work that needed to be done with our credit, etc. we took a year and did everything we could to get things right! Not only were we able to purchase our first home together in 2019, but everything from the past was no longer a factor & two years later we were able to purchase an even more magnificent property that we now call home 🏡

Why was this a miracle for me? I think because I thought we would always be behind & nothing would ever change. We rented for 7+ years before we were able to purchase a home as a married couple and that started to discourage me!

Just a reminder that little miracles happen everyday and that your worst is never the worst. God can turn your situation around in a moment!!! The BEST is yet to COME!!! Keep believing ⭐️

Spending time with these wonderful humans this week reminded me that I still belong here, even though I might not look like everyone else (or feel like I fit in) that’s the beauty of it all right?

I think after doing something for a very long time and in this space specifically, it’s easy to feel imposter syndrome, self doubt and the inability to “keep up”. Although an app or an industry has changed over time it’s so important to stay true to yourself.

So grateful for this time away & I’m leaving with my cup overflowing! God is always on time with these types of things. Just when we need another boost or some encouragement, He sends all the right people your away! He is just good like that 🤩
