Before we even got to the magical ship we were able to experience the magic at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! Never in my life have I seen anything like this place. When we first arrived we were starving so we headed straight to dinner! There was a few amazing restaurants it was truly hard to pick. We settled on Jiko! What a unique place! Everything from the cuisine to the wine, staff and the attire was African inspired! We had such fun conversations with everyone who worked there. They were all from different parts of Africa! When we woke up the next morning we were in search of all the animals. We found a corner of the hotel that was full of giraffes and zebras! Wow, they were so majestic! Ben also took the kiddos to see flamingos while I was getting ready for the day! An experience none of us will forget!
Once we got on the ship it was amazingnesss overload! We went straight to our rooms to change and get ready for the pool!! The kids were waisting NO time!! Ben and I really wanted to a tour of the ship so we knew where to go the entire week but the kiddos weren’t having it!!! Straight to the pool they went and on that incredible waterslide! Our first day was a dream! Not to mention, our butler was Clifford from Jamaica! I hugged him straight away and said “I am from Jamaica too!” We all felt right at home immediately! There are several dining rooms on the ship! The pic of Ben and I was taken right before we went into my favorite dining room- the Enchanted Garden!
Days at sea are filled with adventure! The kids zones are open from 8-9 am til 12 am most nights for our kiddos age groups! Ben and I would take advantage of the childcare whenever we wanted to explore and have a date night! When we were together as a family we would get some exercise in by walking the perimeter of the ship, playing golf, going swimming, visiting different dining halls for lunch and exploring in general! There were always games on the ship to be played as well, whether that was trivias, karoke or bingo, truly something for everyone!
We had a really unforgettable meal at Palo one night. The food and the service were second to none. I am Italian at heart so this was a dream for me! I highly recommend making reservations at this spot if you are ever on the ship!
Our first port stop was San Juan Puerto Rico! Gahh! It was really nice to get off the ship! We also realized once again how LARGE the ship really is! We stopped a few gorgeous beaches… and let me tell you- what a view. We walked the beautiful streets of Old San Juan, drank Pina Colada’s and had an epic tour of the Castillo San Cristóbal fort! Deep down I am a history buff and so is Ben so we enjoyed this tour!
When we got back on the ship we had to change and get all ready for pirate night! Y’all next time we have to do better! Folks were decked out in Pirate costumes and they looked absolutely amazing! I was so impressed by everyone’s makeup and outfits! Dinner was super fun because all of the staff dressed up as well! We ended the night with an amazing fire works display! Nothing like fireworks at sea!!!
Our next stop and my most favorite port stop of our trip was St. Thomas! Oh man! The beaches were to die for! Ben and the kids went snorkeling and saw Dory, Turtles and Sting Rays! An experience we will all never forget! We all agreed that we could have easily stayed in St. Thomas for 3 days! Besides being absolutely beautiful, the weather was beyond perfect!!
Star Wars day at the sea was SO much fun! There were storm troopers and other well known characters roaming the ship the entire day. It feel like we were truly in Star Wars World! From our meals to character meet and greets, everyone being dressed up as their favorite character all day it was unforgettable! We had a fun Star Wars meal at night and then watched the latest Star Wars Film. We ended the night with another EPIC fireworks show. This was the besttt day at sea! The kids were in complete aweee.
Our last stop was Castaway Cay, Disney’s very own private Island!! It was so nice to get off of the ship and continue to experience everything that Disney has to offer! We didn’t need cash or any extra’s. We were able to use our key to the world cards which we use on the ship for anything we want to purchase! As soon as we got on the Island Ben, Sav and J got in the water while Ava decided she HAD to have her hair braided before she headed home. Once Sav saw her hair she followed suit! The day was fun and peaceful but I also felt that sadness creep in as I knew we were headed home the very next day!
