So incredibly excited to be having Angelle guest blogging for me this week!! She is one of my “IG besties” ??. From day one I have admired her strong, yet gentle stance in her faith toward others, her effortless sense of style, her knack for creativity and the ability to juggle it all with 4 beautiful children and a husband. Today Angelle is sharing about identity and raising 4 children in the wisdom and strength of Christ.
“True beauty emanates from a woman who boldly and unabashedly knows who she is in Christ.”
As a mother of four children, I feel that my greatest assignment on this earth is to connect my children to the heart of God and for them to begin to know His thoughts and His affections for them. For them to know that their identity is found in what He says about them not what another person thinks or says about them.
So, does that mean that I can’t be fashionable and pursue fitness?? Does that mean that I have to sound a certain way, act a certain way, and do I have to homeschool too? Do I have to fit a certain mold in order to accomplish my assignment?
I don’t think that there is any perfect formula. But, I do know that I need to know HIM. As a child and even as a young adult, I was extremely shy and very sensitive. Fear had a grip on me choking me at moments from talking or expressing good or bad emotions. Hiding, wearing a mask was just apart of my daily life. Getting close to people exposed the crack, the imperfections in my fragile identity. I struggled deeply in believing that this perfect God could see beauty in me so how could imperfect people see anything good in this flawed being.
Insecurity:
defined as anxiety you experience when you feel
LACK (not enough, something
is missing).
When you only see your LACK, your choices will lack wisdom (insecurity makes people mean, rude, sensitive and withdrawn).
Proverbs 23:7 “For as a person thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Think negative, toxic thoughts, you will become sick & your soul will go stagnate & wither;
Think on God’s truth, and you’ll become like Him!!
Proverbs 19:22 “what a man desires is UNFAILING LOVE.”
Connecting to the heart of God , to His unfailing love has become my safe place. He is my only remedy.. the solution to my feelings of lack, fear and unworthiness!!
To pull away, to withdraw, to escape, to tap out, to shop my blues away is not the approach in life that I want to model to my children. My worth, my wholeness, my completion is not found in my relationships, in my ability to make people laugh, in my jewelry making or Etsy sales {LOL}, in a title or number of followers, in my magical marriage, in my parenting skills, in my ability to be the best “organic” cook, in pursuing the perfect body, in my fashion or “on trend” style, in the fancy things that I am able to purchase…. My worth and my confidence is found in the deep, wide, high, long, LOVE OF THE FATHER!! Nothing can replace Him or take the God spot in my heart. Our identity should simply be: loved by Him.
With that said, I do love fashion and shopping, but I’ve learned that balance is the key. My husband was so excited when I got that revelation. I still have to be reminded {HA.. #thestruggle}. Thanks for taking time to read my heart gush. It is a complete honor to have such darlin’ blogger friends like Ruthie to share life with.
XOXO,
Angelle
