Stripes + Persistence

May 31, 2016 By Ruthie Ridley 34 Comments

Sometimes I feel like writing about what I am experiencing helps me process and give me fuel to keep going! Today’s post is a pep talk to myself! I hope you are encouraged if you are feeling the same. Lately I’ve been slightly discouraged because I have not attained certain goals or aspirations I have been working pretty hard towards. I had to pause, have a good cry, vent a little and realize, that if I want something, I need to continue to persist and press on until I get it and that sometimes loosing is all apart of winning. Giving up isn’t an option for me, ever LOL. I often want to, but it isn’t going to happen.  I will also never forget that quote that says “Overnight success takes 10 years.” I have found myself coming back to the drawing board many times changing strategy and accepting the fact that this is all apart of the process. I feel myself growing, stretching, praying more as a result. The list of goals and desires is endless but not impossible. We all have things we want to be better at, attain or simply grasp a hold of.  Nothing worth it comes easy and persistence is the key!! I love this statement:

“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge

I couldn’t have said it better!! This is another quote that I love:

“As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.” – Denis Waitley
Well, I think that is it for my thoughts on being persistent and pressing on! I feel better already! Ha! On to this outfit below! I have always loved wide legged pants.  These happen to be SUPER wide and it makes it that much more fun!! I paired these pants with a cold shoulder top and a simple cross body bag! This is the perfect outfit for a day in the city, shopping at the mall or going out to lunch with girlfriends!! So tell me, what are your thoughts on being persistent? Have you ever wanted to give up, like me? What are your thoughts on my outfit below?! These particular pants are sold out, so I linked all my other faves instead!! As always, thank you for stopping by the blog!  Much love,
Ruthie xo

I am glad that you know that giving up is not an option. The fact is consistency never goes unnoticed, the law of averages keeps everything balance, for instance, you have day and night, hot and cold, good and bad without good bad would not exist ..it would just be..Anything that happen to us in life is caused by us when we have that mindset we can take responsibility of the situation that will allow us to change the situation. I’ve set many goals with specific time frames attached to them, however, when I fall short of my target I realize that I must work 10 times harder. Continuously visualize only the things that you want to achieve, and block out the thoughts that allow you to feel discourage. Know that our thoughts become things and create our life.

Ruthie, you are such an inspiration, girl. I loved reading this post, it’s a topic that I can certainly relate to. Looking back on my life and the trying times I had to endure, I’m thankful because waiting for the things that I have now, which aren’t always tangible, proves that in the right time, it’ll all happen and all the puzzle pieces will fall into place. I think the hardest part is the not knowing. When? When will this or that FINALLY happen?! Someone knows when 🙂 You look absolutely gorgeous in this look, I love both your makeup and outfit. You’ve styled these trousers to perfection! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

But let me tell you, your success won’t take 10 years because I see it happening to you every. single. day! You are a constant inspiration, Ms. Ruthie! I’m glad giving up is not an option for you because you would surely be missed! 🙂 As for this outfit, girl you know I LOVE IT! Not only does this pant look super chic, but they look so comfy as well! Ruthie! My gorgeous friend! I love this post – not only because of the most amazing gorgeous wide leg pant look EVA’, but because of your message of encouragement. This could not have come at a better time for me to read – been struggling with this as well, and even did a post on this recently talking about going back to basics and using God’s Word as a guide for everything – even the business of blogging. Now I just need to consistently put it into action, lol… I think that is part of persistence right? ha ha. Thank you for this continued encouragement – you are one beautiful babe, inside and out – you are truly doing an amazing job and are such an inspiration!

WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MIRACLES YOU HAVE EVER WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MIRACLES YOU HAVE EVER WITNESSED GOD DO IN YOUR LIFE?!✨🫶🏾🕊️❤️‍🔥🙌🏾🙏🏾🤍

I’ll go first!! Earlier this week I was just thinking about how faithful God has been to me over the years! I think we all go through different highs and lows, but it’s so good to stop and look back and remember what God has done!

Back in 2008 when Ben and I just got married, the market had crashed. I had purchased a home on my own in CT- We lost the house and our cars were repossessed - I honestly felt like we would never recover from that!!! Not to mention, I felt so much failure and shame attached to that season!

Fast-forward to 2019, we begin working with our dear friend @cody.d.williams on purchasing our very first home together and he told us all the work that needed to be done with our credit, etc. we took a year and did everything we could to get things right! Not only were we able to purchase our first home together in 2019, but everything from the past was no longer a factor & two years later we were able to purchase an even more magnificent property that we now call home 🏡

Why was this a miracle for me? I think because I thought we would always be behind & nothing would ever change. We rented for 7+ years before we were able to purchase a home as a married couple and that started to discourage me!

Just a reminder that little miracles happen everyday and that your worst is never the worst. God can turn your situation around in a moment!!! The BEST is yet to COME!!! Keep believing ⭐️

Spending time with these wonderful humans this week reminded me that I still belong here, even though I might not look like everyone else (or feel like I fit in) that’s the beauty of it all right?

I think after doing something for a very long time and in this space specifically, it’s easy to feel imposter syndrome, self doubt and the inability to “keep up”. Although an app or an industry has changed over time it’s so important to stay true to yourself.

So grateful for this time away & I’m leaving with my cup overflowing! God is always on time with these types of things. Just when we need another boost or some encouragement, He sends all the right people your away! He is just good like that 🤩
