Comfort Zone

March 4, 2016 By Ruthie Ridley 48 Comments

5 inspiring quotes to help push you beyond your comfort zone:

“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.” – Brian Tracy

“A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. You must break out of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and the unknown.” -Denis Waitley

“The comfort zone is the great enemy to creativity; moving beyond it necessitates intuition, which in turn configures new perspectives and conquers fears.” – Dan Stevens

“One element of Madonna’s career that really takes center stage is how many times she’s reinvented herself. It’s easier to stay in one look, one comfort zone, one musical style. It’s inspiring to see someone whose only predictable quality is being unpredictable.” -Taylor Swift

“I’m continually trying to make choices that put me against my own comfort zone. As long as you’re uncomfortable, it means you’re growing.” – Ashton Kutcher

They say that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I have to believe that this is so true. I recently have been asked to participate in a few projects that were way beyond my level of creative comfort. As I began to chat and process with other creatives I realized that, yes, I can do this and although it is new and uncharted territory, I can own it and create something beautiful. Often times fear holds us back from breaking out into something that is unfamiliar. If you can keep in mind that you are never alone and that doing new things causes you to grow, that might give you the fuel to take that first step. Grab your tribe, brain storm, ask questions and be brave! You can do this!!!!!

Stepping out of your comfort zone is the only way to grow as a person. I signed up for an Ironman before completing a half Ironman. It was the scariest and best thing I ever did for myself. I learned more about myself than I ever knew possible. As a sidenote, I love your hoodie.

I just wrote a post about comfort zones too, so of course I saw yours and got excited and had to come over! Love Taylor’s quote about Madonna. How true- the reason I wrote about comfort zones is mainly because for me, change has always been hard. I am 24 and still live at home, mainly because I am close to my family and love my dogs and can’t imagine leaving them, but also because I am comfortable. I want to be out on my own by 25, though. I think it’s essential for me to grow- I also have a pretty comfortable job right now, but one that I know I am ready to move on from and try other things…it’s my first job out of college and many do not stay at their first careers for that long, I think we should explore- especially when we are young! So I had my 2nd interview this week to work at an animal sanctuary and I am stoked- solo hoping I get it and it works out because I want to make this the year of getting out of my safe box!
