Black X Black

February 15, 2016 By Ruthie Ridley 42 Comments

I have to be honest, we are so ridiculously spoiled with this weather here in California. We have now been here for 3 years, and I am still floored when I walk outside in Februrary and it is 70 degrees!!! I feel like I am in heaven… I know, dramatic! lol Some of you may know that I grew up in CT and the Winters were BRUTAL. My best friend back east texted me this weekend and said it was -30 in CT. She has a little one in the house and I’m like, NO! You need to come out here lol.
Anyways, all that to say, we are in sleevless tops (how cute is this flowy top from Kay Celine) from time to time, my kids are in shorts and went swimming this weekend (a little over board I think). I know it is a little premature but we are all seeing signs of Spring and we cannot wait.
The look below is one that I would typically wear on the stage when I sing. Black to me is always safe. Being under lights, being high up, people staring at you, you want to wear something that is comfortable, yet cute and as I said before, safe. Black is slimming, it is timelss, it is classic. I LOVE black. I actually portray quite a bit of color on the blog, but in my closet there is lots of black and grey! I also love wearing hats on the stage. I am not big into accessories. I think right now it isn’t because I don’t love them, because I do, it is more because I gravitate toward the same pieces and I feel like it gets boring. Also, anything nice I have had in the past, my kids have gotten into and it drives me crazy! At the moment I would love a nice watch and a sweet pair of earrings! I am working on it. So, to me, a hat is the perfect accessory for the stage. It obviously makes you stand out, dresses you up a little and it completely changes a look of an outfit. There are all kinds of styles of hats out there as well. I feel like you just have to try a few on and see what works!! What do you think of my stage look?! Hope you all are having a fantastic Monday!! Much love,
Ruthie xo

Of course you wouldn’t need a blazer because of the wonderful weather there, but here I’ll need blazer and scarf to feel comfortable haha! Hope you’re having a wonderful day Ruthie 🙂
