Hi everyone!! Here I am, back with another fitness post!! I love working out, truly it is medicine for me!! Today I wanted to share 5 ways I have been staying motivated to workout lately! I will be honest, after being sick for 2 weeks in a row, it has thrown me off quite a bit, but I am determined to keep moving!! Here’s what I am doing and suggest:
Set A Goal
I am in the process of setting a ton of mini goals. I figure if my goals start out small and I meet them than I can experience success easily. For example, I am trying to run at least two times per week and also lift twice per week. Sometimes that doesn’t always equate to 4 visits to the gym but I still meet my goal.
Work Towards Something
I am traveling a ton over the next few months. Knowing that I am going to be on the beach and also singing in front of a lot of people, it gives me all the motivation I need to get in the gym and stay active. When I am working toward a trip and really just want to feel good, I have to stay on track. Coming up here I have a trip to Mexico early February. Then two trips in March and two in April! I have lot’s to work towards!
Try Something New
Starting this month I am going to be taking cycling classes at Team Ride! It is a local cycling class here in Folsom, also located in the greater Sacramento area! This is not just a cycling class, this is a full body workout! I can’t wait to get in there and get some work done!! My goal is to get there two to three times per week!! More to come on this new adventure!!
Accountability
When I lost 30 pounds a few years ago the main key to it all was accountability. I had a few people I held myself accountable to and it kept me on track! Simple things like following fitness accounts, mentioning my workouts on IG and chatting to Ben about my plan for the week has helped immensely.
Upgrade Your Fitness Gear
I LOVE new workout gear! I buy it probably too much, but having the right gear to run in and lift in is SUPER important to me. I have been a long time fan of Senita Athletics!! I have to admit the winter has kept me inside. It snowed and when it snows I just don’t feel like going out in it. But i can choose to exercise in my home. So that’s all on me. Congrats on sticking with those goals!

Sounds like you have yourself set up for success! I have to do chair EXERCISES and it takes a long time to notice a difference then something like a sickness or fall puts me back at square one and it is hard to get started. I’m now trying to be under a certain weight by my next drs. appointment.

This is great advice. And honestly, it applies just as well to diet changes, work habits, or anything we’re trying to improve in our lives. I think the small goals are especially important. The more often we check in with ourselves & the more often we feel we are meeting a goal, the more motivated we’ll be to keep going.

Haha I’m pretty bad at buying too much fitness gear and clothes too, but it can actually be a great motivation 🙂 If I want some new workout clothes really badly then I’ll usually set a fitness goal and then once I achieve that I reward myself with the new workout clothes 🙂

I so agree with all of these tips. In the new year I decided I was going to make health and fitness a priority. I asked for a new fitness watch for Christmas and bought a treadmill so I could no longer make excuses for not working out. I set a giant goal to complete a major marathon challenge (long-term goal, for sure) and created a personalized workout calendar so I have to check-in with myself every day.
