I think one of the most difficult things with fitness is staying motivated. I get super discouraged when I don’t see results quickly.  I am always trying new strategies, changing things up, looking for alternatives but can easily get discouraged.  The key is to never quit.  Don’t give up.  During the holiday season it is extremely easy to throw in the towel, lose focus and give in to all the temptations around us, primarily with food.  We need to dig deep for discipline during this time of year and I can assure you that you won’t regret it.  For me, I have tried really hard to find a balance, and I don’t quite have it down yet, but I am working on it.  Being disciplined 80% of the time pretty hard core and then allowing more freedom for parties, family nights etc for me to enjoy myself!

Not completely sure about what I am trying to share here today except that, if you don’t quit you will eventually see the results and fruit of your hard work.  My goal is not to look like a super model or even lose a ton of weight, but to be comfortable in my own skin and ultimately healthy! I have been running more at the gym which I always feel great doing! I still take spin and incorporate weight lifting.  My goal over the next few weeks is to increase my water intake.  I managed over Thanksgiving week, to go to the gym 5 times.  This made a huge difference on how my body felt after so much food.  I had made up my mind earlier in the week that no matter what, I would keep moving.  Movement is so important as well as not going overboard on the carbs (at least for me).

My encouragement for you today is to stay at it.   No matter what your circumstances feel like and look like, don’t quit.  When you least expect it you will see change.  More important than anything is health and how you feel overall.  Work toward becoming a better you, not becoming like anyone else.  Hard work produces results.  We got this!!!

    Yessssss! i’ve always said that i’m going to work out, but i get discouraged when it takes longer than a month to see results. i have a love-hate relationship with exercise, so i think that’s part of my problem, too. i think i just need to find a fitness plan or exercise that i absolutely love and stick at it! i love the endorphins afterwards, but it’s the actually ‘doing it’ part is what i struggle with!

    Something that helps me with working out is remembering my intentions. I do it because it’s one of the biggest predictors of longer life that has nothing to do with what it says on the scale. Exercise is amazing for my body and mind and I feel better about it when I don’t worry about a weight goal.

    Staying at it is so important, especially during the holidays. I love your view on fitness because I have a similar view. After having three kids, including a set of twins, I am slowly starting to love the body I have. While also accepting that I will never have my pre-pregnancies body and that’s okay.

    I can’t wait until I can workout again. I broke my ankle and am healing. I did some leg lifts with my other leg the other day and I went to the park to wheel myself around to get an arm workout, but it’s not the same as my usual routine. Oh well, I will appreciate it so much more when I can do it again!
