Happy almost Valentine’s Day, gal pals! My name is Karen O’Brien the girl behind For All Things Pretty, a California life and style blog, and I’m so excited for today’s post! Ruthie was kind enough to let me jump in here to share a couple of my favorite ways to practice self-care for the month of February. Fortunately, February is the month of love where we take a full day of the year to show kindness, love, and gratefulness to those special beings in our life; however, I like to take it one step further and include myself in the mix as well. As women, we go through a lot every single day! I feel like we have so much to juggle day in and day out, which can get a little stressful and hectic. I’m a huge believer in the fact that taking a few moments to take care of ourselves allows us to recharge both mentally and physically, something that is tremendously important and might sometimes be overlooked.
This Valentine’s Day, show yourself some love by doing something that makes YOU happy. One of my favorite ways to practice self-care is to draw a bath after a long day, complete with some bath salts, a good book, a nice candle, and a glass of wine (water for me since I’m currently 9 months pregnant!). Go the extra mile and add some fresh flowers and slices of citrus fruit to your bath, I promise you won’t regret it! Plus it serves dual purpose as it can enhance your skin (& mood!) and also makes for an exceptionally great Instagram photo! It’s a win win! Other favorite ways I like to practice self-care include expressing gratitude daily as it helps me feel blessed for everything I have (& doesn’t allow any negativity in) and taking care of my body, both inwardly and outwardly. I love making healthy eating choices and exercising regularly but also love pampering myself, whether it be with a mani-pedi, a hair mask, my favorite face mask, or even diffusing my best-loved essential oil in my oil diffuser.
