Shalice Noel | Interview

Shalice Noel | Interview

Two years ago, around this time of year actually, I was contemplating starting a fashion blog.  I some how stumbled across Shalice’s Instagram page and was immediately intrigued and inspired.  Her effortless style, whitty comments and ability to juggle mothering 4 children with what seemed like ease, made me feel like “I can do this.”  She was essentially one of the main reasons I had the courage and creative drive to start my blog.  Through fear and uncertainty of how this blog would come together I started Ruthie Ridley Blog in January of 2015.  I reached out to Shalice for an interview a few months ago, as I still look up to her to this day, and she was so kind to answer these questions I have always wondered about her.  Read more below!

1)How do you juggle being a mom and a fashion blogger and everything else?!
Like anyone – prioritizing, setting limits and occasionally burning dinner.

2) When did you Fall in love with fashion?!

Since I was 10-11, I kept Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar under my bed. I had an inspiration board in my room that I would constantly change up and I wrote poetry about fashion in college. I cant remember a time when I didn’t like styling or perusing fashion mags.

3)Who is your fashion ICON?!

I love Kate Moss’ laissez-faire attitude. Everyone has a vibe and I’ve always liked hers.

4)What is your favorite fall trend currently?!

Fun silhouettes like bell sleeves and crop jeans. I’m loving basics with a twist.

5) If money and time weren’t an issue what would you do?!

Exactly what I’m doing now: styling, mothering, blogging … but with more sleep.

Thank you to Shalice for taking the time for this interview! She was in preparation mode for Fashion Week in NYC, but still made the time to answer these questions for me.  Check out her amazing blog here.

This interview truly hit home. Being a stay-at-home with 3 very busy littles, wanting to start a blog and actually doing it took so much time and courage. I waited and waited because I knew I wanted to do it RIGHT. I wanted to give it all of my attention…not half and not even 3/4th. So, that’s why I waited a bit. I still question whether I waited too long and have missed the boat, but I wouldn’t trade my time with my kids for anything!! Thank you for this inspirational interview Ruthie!!!
