I have spent a good part of my adult life trying to attain some level of perfection. Whether that be physically or with my various business ventures- I have always wanted things to look and seem perfect to others. As I enter another year and prepare to turn 35 I finally realize that there is so much beauty in the mess and imperfection- that vulnerability in the not so perfect states brings liberty to others and freedom to myself.
As we prepare to enter 2019 I want to encourage you to be all that you are and be more open about the not-so perfect parts of yourself. Allow your imperfections to be shown and realize that what you see, others do not. Your life can be a sign of God’s grace and mercy to others. Here are a few quotes I have read lately that have been inspiring me in this area:
“Imperfections are not
inadequacies; they are reminders that we’re all in this together.”
― Brené Brown
“Imperfection inspires invention, imagination, creativity. It stimulates. The more I feel imperfect, the more I feel alive.”
― Jhumpa Lahiri, I
“It’s made me realize that imperfect is perfectly comfortable to me. Whether it’s a city or my apartment, I feel most at home when things are somewhat flawed.” – Kathie Lee
