Happy Monday friends!!!! I can’t believe I’m sitting here writing another blogiversary post! Two years have gone by since this blog has been launched! So much has changed and I’m so grateful for this journey. Looking back at my first post ever and even my one year anniversary post, I realize how much I didn’t know, but I’m so glad that I started! I was thinking the other day that if someone were to tell me all that blogging entailed, I probably wouldn’t have begun. Blogging is all encompassing, time-consuming, and requires a lot of dedication, but for some reason this blog gives me great joy, keeps my wheels turning, and feeds those creative bones that I have. Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me through this journey! I couldn’t keep going if no one was reading, so thank you!
This year was full of a lot of amazing opportunities. There were some disappointments and a lot of growth that happened this year, but I came away with one thing. As I continued to blog, I realized that more than anything I wanted to get big collaborations, I wanted to grow more on Instagram, I wanted more, more, more…. but it was never enough, I was still comparing myself to other people, and I was still feeling defeated and inadequate. The one thing I came away with this year is that you are not defined by numbers, collaborations or opportunities, you are defined by what’s inside of you and who God says you are. As I stopped being so obsessed with these things I found that my true self emerged and I was able to create in a way that I’ve never been able to before. I think it’s important as a blogger not to lose yourself and get caught up in name brands, money, and opportunities…even though all of that is very nice. Readers want to see authenticity, uniqueness, and true creativity.
As I move forward this year I want to bring forth my best self and share things that are on my heart more, create with excitement and things that inspire me. I will still aspire to obtain fun collaborations and ones that fit my brand but I will not make that my main focus anymore. I read this quote the other day and it made me smile: “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.” I’m starting to believe as one does the best they can with everything that they have the right opportunities will come their way. I believe this year can be a huge year of opportunity, I just need to keep on keeping on and mostly keep being me!
Let’s talk about this dress for a moment! I discovered this amazing LA based brand right before Christmas! I was SO excited to collaborate with them for my 2 year anniversary blog post!! All of their pieces are designed by Christy (founder and owner), they hand pick fabric and have seamstresses to carry out the vision: “Our number one priority is the quality of our pieces. We rely heavily on the skill of our seamstresses. We sacrifice speed for precision, paying a premium for the most talented sewers in the city. We believe the best way to make a superior dress is to treat the people making the dresses with respect and dignity.
